INVITATION TO TRANSLATE | THE CANYONWALKER TRANSLATION PROJECT

Hello and THANK YOU!

[I will be on limited connections for much of January, so please be patient with my timing in getting back to you. I have THREE conferences I will be attending.]

How exciting that the Canyonwalker Connections Translation Project has begun and that you have offered to become of part of it!  I get mail from every continent already and would like to extend that reach with your help. There are isolated people around the world that do not have access to information which both affirms who they are as Christians and same sex attracted people or those with gender identities outside the normative.  The Canyonwalker Connections Translation Project seeks to extend reach, hope and information.

Each language will have a separate landing page on Canyonwalker Connections blog referring and linking to the rest of the site. ALL pages and posts have “translate” plugin buttons; the translation is fairly accurate in all the languages I have requested. The “landing page” will have a slightly different format than my main sites’ HOME page. All the categories, the mission statement, the ABOUT, along with  the most important SEVEN posts need to be accurately translated.  For the rest of the posts, I am relying on the “translate” button.

TIMING:  2012 and ongoing, as it gets done, it will be linked and posted. The first translation page in Spanish is already being built. You can see the direction I am going in HERE, Canyonwalker en Espanol.

TEXTS TO TRANSLATE: 

The WordPress theme I am using is limited in reformatting.  Each language’s landing page will have: the mission statement, the ABOUT, and the key seven posts. Those seven posts in of order of need to be translated are:

  • Dear Moms and Dads, A Letter to Christian Parents of glbt Youth
  • Ten Things I’ve Learned in Ten Years About Gay People | A Christian Perspective
  • I’m a Zero | Sexual Orientation
  • Canyonwalker | About
  • Was Sodom Really Destroyed Because of Homosexuality
  • The Abomination Test of Leviticus and Deuteronomy
  • Discussion of Romans 1:26, Is It Possible that We have had This Wrong? (this is being checked for final re-edit 1/1/12)
  • Are You In or Out? I Corinthians and I Timothy (this is being checked for final re-edit 1/1/12)

The various language landing page need to be SEO tagged and searchable. To accomplish this, I need to link the pages on the backend with keywords.  The words I need translated are:

gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, homosexual, homosexuality and the Bible, straight ally, gay Christian.

Along with the keywords on the backend, the following  categories pointing  to other posts need accurate translations as well:

To educate and create dialogue between the Christian Church and the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Christian community.

The seven posts core to this site and an introduction to the site owner have been  accurately translated in your language. Scroll down the page for these posts. There is a “translate”/”translate”(LEAVE THE SECOND ONE IN ENGLISH) on every page and post. Use the category links for the posts and pages associated with your topic of interest. 

The seven core documents will be housed in Google Docs and you will get access to that set of docs when we agree you can and will help. You will need to have or set up a gmail account. I will send you an invitation to join the folder in which to deposit the translated posts. Take one doc, or all seven.

TIP:  I am not sure if a cursory translation is helpful, but you may try it. Within the Google Docs, go to TOOLS –> Translate–> choose the language from the dropdown.

VIDEOS TO TRANSLATE:  I understand some folks will only want to work in text, or that others may only want to work on video, or BOTH! People find me on the blog or video and often the two groups do not intersect very much. Both outreaches are important.

There are NINE Videos in total, do as much as you can or want to do.)

Video Translation Formatting:

  • Download with youtubedownloader (or one you prefer) for your translation work you can subtitle
  • You have my permission to download and translate
  • Sending the video back to me, use www.dropbox.com.  I will set up a file for each language and you will have access to that file once we agree that you want to do some of the work;  the way it works is that I email you an invitation to the file.
  • I will upload the translated video to my youtube channel Canyonwalker Connections and group them by language.
