THE CANYONWALKER TRANSLATION PROJECT

Many people lack resources to reconcile faith and sexual orientation or gender identity. I am most concerned about youth that are isolated and often, the internet will be their only resource for help. I get mail several days a week from such young adults. They find me on the blog and on Youtube; Youtube is a powerful tool and another group of people find me there.

There is clearly a growing need to reach out, educate and encourage isolated gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their friends and family throughout the world. That is what The Canyonwalker Translation Project is about–connections.

What I am looking for help with is:

Subtitling of EIGHT videos on youtube

Translation of subcategories and links on the site Canyonwalker Connections AND translation of SEVEN blogposts and some linking paragraphs. These posts are core to  the site. These include the ones on the verses, sexual orientation and gender identity and a letter to Christian parents with gay youth.  This is a big job and is about 16, 500 words.

TIMING: 2012 There is no deadline and no pressure. As I get pieces, I will build the pages; I do all my own webwork.

The intention is to let the “TRANSLATE” tool translate all the other posts; the tool is fairly accurate. Because seven posts are the core of the issue, I want them correctly translated along with 8 videos subtitled.

I know this project will take time. Each language will have ONE landing page with the accurate translations and all the other categories linked for auto Google translate. Some of the languages that need to be translated were chosen because the natives of those countries are currently being targeted by strong anti-gay and anti-trans legislation or actions; Eastern Europe and Russia  is breeding this activity.

I need a minimum of TWO native speakers for each language. I need them to check each others’ work to ensure that some crazy does not sneak in and completely twist my messages. I often attract crazies; they need not apply, really.

Native speakers or those with translation skills in the following languages are needed, and if your skill set is not on this list, it does not mean I am not interested. Offer your skills. As long as “google translate” includes that language, the balance of the  site can be translated generically too.

  • Spanish
  • Chinese
  • Hindi
  • Arabic
  • Russian
  • Japanese
  • Hebrew
  • Dutch
  • German
  • French
  • Korean
  • Polish
  • Romanian
  • Bulgarian
  • Croatian
  • Georgian
  • Ukrainian
  • Serbian
  • Slovenian
  • Portuguese

I have documents ready and will set you up on Google Docs in a folder of your language. The text will be hosted there. So you need to have a gmail account. If not, create one easily. The video files are on my youtube channel and can be downloaded via youtubedownloader or a similar free program. The transfer back to me will be via DROPBOX.COM

If you can only contribute part of the effort for a language–do that.

Let’s equip those who have little or no resources to help with understanding, education and encouragement.  There is no financial remuneration for this project; you just get the incredible knowing that you have helped save lives and dang, what better thing is there?

Thank you.

In Him and for Him,

Kathy, Canyonwalker

When you agree, we can be in email contact as I set up the files and depositories for you language. I can then send you a letter with details and the invitation you will need to Canyonwalker’s Google and Dropbox.

Television systems are useful for surveillance, industrial process control, and guiding of weapons, in places where direct observation is or dangerous.

Polish is on your list twice, did you mean to include another language? I am trained in translation, and Portuguese, so if that is a language you would be interested in, I could help with that. I also have friends all over the world, and I’ll share this. Some are even translators. Good luck!
